Drink lots of water.
Hydration is essential for just about every function in the body. At Slender Body Solutions we ask you to drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily. If a person weighs 160 pounds, they should drink 80 ounces of water every day, during their treatment period. Water fills you up and reduces food cravings. Our Body Light system allows your fat cells to release their contents, so this waste makes its way to your lymph system. Proper water intake allows your body to flush these waste products, greatly improving your treatment results!
Practice intermittent fasting.
We ask you to fast or avoid eating for one hour before your treatment and two hours after. This period of fasting is essential to your success. Our Body Light treatment releases the contents of your fat cells and by abstaining from eating for a few hours, your body will use that fuel to burn as energy. This allows for the targeted Body Contouring that our clients are looking for! I also recommend that you fast from 7PM-7AM. By removing any late night snacking you will reduce a huge fat storage opportunity.
Avoid processed/fast food.
Highly processed foods and anything that comes out of a fast food window are high in calories, salt, fat, preservatives and a host of additives. Our addiction to these convenience foods is making us sick. I try and avoid foods that have a long list of things that I cannot pronounce. Focus on filling up your refrigerator with fruits and veggies. Nuts, beans and whole grains are packed with nutrition and fiber that will aid in your weight loss goals!
Minimize sugar and flour in your diet.
These food items fall under the heading of simple carbohydrates. All simple carbs are used for quick energy by your body or are stored as fat. The standard American diet is full of these simple carbs which greatly contributes to our collective waistlines.
Get daily exercise.
People often ask me what is the best activity for weight loss and I always answer, “whatever you’re willing to do on a regular basis.” Cardiovascular exercise such as running is a great low cost way to burn calories. Resistance exercise like weight lifting helps the body to burn calories during your workout and keeps your metabolism up long after you are done, for a great calorie burn! Remember to have fun and mix it up, ride a bike, go for a hike with a friend, hit the gym or do some calisthenics at home.
Maximize your fruit and veggie intake.
We have a philosophy at my house “put as many veggies in meals as you can” Fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. These food items are what your body needs to excel! Try to have these food items at your house ready to go. Grab some salad greens, the darker the better. Have your favorite salad items prepped at home, so when you are hungry you can make a big salad from your private salad bar!
Get proper rest.
Sleep is essential for an efficient running body. When we are sleep deprived we eat more and often abuse stimulants like caffeine to get us through our day. We also tend to skip working out when we are tired.
Our modern world is full of things that cause stress and this contributes greatly to weight gain and disease. Strain and worry cause our bodies to produce cortisol and this causes our bodies to store fat around our middle. Practice little habits that reduce stress, such as; leave plenty of time to get ready in the morning and definitely for your morning commute. Go for a walk in nature or watch your favorite comedy. Remember to get together with friends, real human interaction is important in our virtual world.
Take your coffee or tea without cream or sugar.
Current science is showing the health benefits of these antioxidant rich beverages. When we add sugar and cream we lessen these health effects. I have been buying my favorite organic coffee and tea to make at home. Avoiding store bought varieties saves me money, reduces sugar and ups my quality. Try to slowly reduce your sugar intake, allow your palate to adjust to a lower sugar level.
Lose weight with modern technology.
Our world is packed with technology to help your healthy lifestyle. I often use YouTube for free yoga sessions at home. Apps on your smart phone can help you count calories, understand ingredients, offer diet plans and strategies or give you endless exercise options. So remember to use technology to get the information you need to succeed!
Harness the power of positive thinking.
The mind is a powerful tool and it can make or break your health plans. Self-defeating negative thoughts are toxic! Create new positive messages to help you accomplish your goals. I have used positive mantras to create change in my life. While I am not recommending you walk around chanting all day, it is helpful to do an inner “silent” mantra. Start a new healthy inner dialogue with a simple positive saying such as,
“Healthy, happy, active” or any positive words you can focus your mind on. Imagine your goal and see yourself achieving it. Check out The Secret to learn more about “the law of attraction” and see how what you think helps create your reality.
